Not long to go until one of Brighton’s busiest months of year: festival season in May. With not one, not two but four events spanning Brighton & Hove throughout the month it’s one of the best times to come and visit our fair town.
Don’t know where to start? Never fear we’ve put together our best of the fest recommendations. You’re welcome…

Brighton Festival – 6-28th May

best of the fest - Hotel Pelirocco guide to May 2017
One for the artsy folks. Celebrating it’s 50th birthday this year the Brighton Festival is packed full of dance, theatre, art & film, all with a political edge.

Every year the festival has a guest director who sets the theme and curates the line-up: 2017 sees the turn of Kate Tempest whose festival is dedicated to the ‘Everyday epic’ aiming to open up these sometimes elitist areas to the public. The catalogue of events including many spoken word, community projects and one-of-a-kind performances is available to book now via brightonfestival.org

Here’s a couple we can’t wait for:

The Unfair

Conceived and created by Ellie Harrison this event is described as ‘a fairground arcade filled with a range of games and stalls that playfully explores how we can handle our anger and provides a chance for the whole family to let off steam’.

Nothing like getting a bit of rage off your chest before settling into your weekend getaway by the sea!

Fri 19 – Sun 21 May; The New Steine; pay what you feel

Can You Put This In The Bin For Me?

This show has been a sell-out two years running at Edinburgh Festival and stars our wonderful comedy night compere Charmaine! Straight-talking stand-up from Charmaine Davies & Michael Mooney.

The Great Escape – 18-21st May

best of the fest - Hotel Pelirocco Festival Guide May 2017
One of our favourite events of the year the Great Escape sees the best new bands playing across Brighton’s pubs and clubs for a whole weekend in May. This very popular event sees the town invaded by all manner of hip individuals in a ridiculous amount of skinny jeans but that’s all part of the fun. Tickets available via greatescapefestival.com
Psst! Fancy a break from the town centre? Make sure you escape to the Pelirocco for three days of intimate gigs with live music from bands in our hotel bar.

With the Liberty Music PR Showcase on Thurs 18th, a Pro7ect takeover on Fri 19th and Escape to the Pelirocco on Sat 20th feat live music from up and coming bands including Fable and Moviestar.
