Last week saw the unveiling of our new summer exhibition from Nottingham-based artist ‘The Dunce’.
Dunce exhibition at Hotel Pelirocco - July 2017

Dunce:

A dull-witted stupid or ignorant person; dolt, dullard, numbskull, blockhead, ignoramus, simpleton, nincompoop, ninny.

Dunce is a person who is slow to learn or stupid especially at school.

The Dunce is a creator, maker and thinker – an imaginatively dreamy fool of gigantic proportions in a constant state of flux.

Combining risograph, painting, photo-montage and letterpress prints this multimedia exhibition balances pastel tones and a pacifist message.

Many pieces see The Dunce reimagining objects from the past such as photographs and public information copy, and employing manual processes to give these objects a new lease of life.

We especially admire the ‘Hate Free Zone’ letterpress prints – just the sentiment required in today’s unsettled times… Encouraging people to explore and find their own direction.

Prints are available from reception starting from £10 with 10% of each sale being donated to Nottingham’s Brinsley Animal Rescue. The first 20 prints sold also receive a free limited edition letterpress A5 ‘Hate Free Zone’ print.

Come grab yourself a cocktail and check it out; until 2nd September.
