We can verify that this Bowie tribute really does looky likey the David we all know and revere! Here he is in our Rebel rebel room, communing intensely with the excellent mural by The Postman art collective, hover over to see him on stage!

As shown in one of the photos, every year hundreds of folk dress as the jolly fellow to romp along the seafront en masse! The race begins at Hove Lawns, just along the beach from the hotel, dashes down to the Lagoon and back, with plenty of pennies raised for each dasher’s fave charity.
Bound to get everyone in the mood for the silly season, this year’s Santa Dash takes place at 10:30 am on Saturday 10th December.
burning the clocks is back 21st december
“Burning the Clocks is a unique community event held on the 21st of December, created by Same Sky, that brings the whole city together to mark the shortest day of the year. Local people make their own paper and willow lanterns, using our kits, and after parading through the city, they pass them into a blazing bonfire on Brighton beach, as a token of the year’s end.”
We’ve really missed this the last two years…who among us doesn’t love a reason to drink al fresco, drummers, dancers, fire and saying go away to winter?!
artist open houses 10th and 11th december
“It’s an open secret that visiting the Winter Open Houses is the best way to find stylish and original Christmas gifts, meeting the artists in their homes and buying directly from them.”
Aaaand it’s a damn fine way to have a lil snoop round some arty homes, eat homemade cake and buy yourself presents!
“This year, Artists Open Houses include work by young artists with learning disabilities at the Jubilee Library, a seniors’ residential centre, a group of artists producing a ‘punk’ Christmas tree with handmade baubles, and venues offering Indian and Nordic Christmas treats alongside the art.
Work includes painting, ceramics, homewares, crafts, jewellery, children’s toys, Christmas cards, tree decorations and preserves.”

This new improved annual market is located just at the edge of the main independent shopping area, the North Laine. It “offers a vibrant mix of unique gifts from across the globe, stimulating the senses and creating the sights, sounds, tastes, textures and aromas of Christmas.

Tradition decrees that we ring in the New Year with this bunch of tuneful troubadours, including this artistic fellow Dave Liteyear!
The crew will play on the decks in the bar all their faves, old and new, from roundabout 1pm (hangovers permitting) until bedtime (whenever that may be…)
Trust that there will be good tunes and good booze all day long, including special offer Bloody Marys or Espresso Martinis for all those sleepy heads. Yum!
